VISION4FUTURE
Helen Akers
During Helen Akers 18 month trip around the world she had the
privilege to work with young people in Nepal
and Cambodia.
A very inspired Helen returned to the U.K. with a Vision 4 the Future,
her aim is to enable young people to express themselves on canvas using Life
Elements (Healthy mind, body and spirit, Power Without Pollution, and Future
aspirations).
l groups of young people together
who are otherwise separated due to physical or mental differences. With her
enthusiastic approach Helen has enlisted the following local schools -;
Bradstow School
Stone Bay
St Anthonys
Thanet College
Foreland
Royal School for the Deaf
Skills for Life (Thanet
College)
The above participating schools
will give their young people an opportunity to take part in this exciting
project. Helen and the team which has formed around her (all volunteers) are
going to exhibit the canvasses during week commencing 11 Dec 2006, then the
canvasses will be donated back and displayed in the schools involved.
The work will be completed over a period of 4 weeks and Helen believes that by
exhibiting the canvasses it will stimulate comparisons, increase
understanding and confidence among all of the young people. Helen hopes that
the paintings will provoke thought and help explore areas-; fossil fuels,
wind power and solar power etc.
The canvasses are being sponsored
by local businesses, and as the project grows we need more people to jump on
board and donate.
Helen created this project out of a leadership course she did through Landmark
Education and would like to thank various friends and volunteers who have
helped with vision4future.
